Writing "Confessions of a Frog Kisser" changed my life.
How? First, I learned a lot about myself. Stuff that needed to change if I was ever going to find a happy, healthy relationship. Second, I spent a year or so living so far outside my comfort level. I had no idea how vulnerable I'd feel when I published my true story. It was scary and fantastic. I am a more fulfilled person today because I did this! The Book "Confessions of a Frog Kisser" is the story of Sam Emerson, a fun single chick in her late 30's who just can't seem to find a good guy. She dates fun, outgoing guys, but it never leads anywhere. Finally, sad and depressed, she sits down with a few dozen cookies and a spreadsheet to figure out what she'd doing wrong. The answer amazes her. Because when it's all laid out in black and white, the answer is obvious. Now she just needs to do something about it.
Romance Junkies Review Sam Emerson has always been the bridesmaid and never the bride. At the age of thirty-seven, she wonders if she will ever find Mr. Right. Her sister has a strong marriage and children, so Sam knows it is possible. The pressure is on now just to find a relationship with a suitable man so she does not have to go to yet another wedding and her twentieth high school reunion single.
Feeling desperate, Sam tries different ways to meet new men, including online dating sites. After several disasters, she realizes new technology is not any better than old-fashioned means. After meeting Sean Gilly, Sam feels a bit more optimistic about her love life. Of course, true love never runs smoothly and Sam will have to make tough choices along the way. Sam is a heroine who represents many modern women. Media and society tell her she needs a man to complete her, but often a journey of self-discovery and dealing with the past are more important. Sam is fortunate in having the support and nurturing atmosphere of close friends and a good boss. Sean is a charming bad boy. Most of us have had at least one "Sean" in our past. They are fun, but not lifetime partner material. There are many other engaging secondary characters, such as Sam's sister, who lend richness and humor to the plot. Some of Sam's dates will make you cringe and chortle. Susan Rose confesses in the beginning of the book that real life inspired some of her story. The clever dialog and insights into human nature certainly ring true. She is wished much future success in her writing career.
